Nature Photos

An ongoing personal photography project documenting nature, wildlife and the overlooked details of Bournemouth. Shot on an Olympus E-420 and published to Instagram as a record of growth, not a chase for engagement.
Problem
I wanted a dedicated space to develop my photography with real intention. Not just taking photos but understanding them. I was drawn to the smaller details that most people overlook and I wanted a way to document that progress honestly over time.
Solution
An ongoing Instagram archive called @caitlin.frames.it, started August 2024. Every image is captured on my Olympus E-420 and edited in Photoshop. It is posted not for reach but for record. A living document of how my eye for detail and light is developing.
My Story
Photography has always been something I come back to. There is something about it that feels like a responsibility, the responsibility to actually look at the world around you rather than just moving through it. I have always loved a big view or a golden hour shot but this project started from something much quieter than that.
I shoot around Bournemouth mostly. The wildlife, the nature, the little architectural details that sit in plain sight without anyone really noticing them. I am drawn to the things that take patience. The way light settles on water at exactly the right moment. The texture in something most people would walk straight past. One of my favourite shots from this project is a bee settled on a lavender flower. The colour contrast is so vivid and specific that it almost does not look real. That image captures exactly what I am trying to do with this whole project. Finding something worth stopping for in something completely ordinary.
What I love about photography is that it is both a creative and a methodical process. I take my time. I read the light, I think about the composition, I am deliberate about what I want the image to say before I take it. I am detail oriented by nature and photography gives that quality somewhere to go.
There is no strategy behind this project and no finish line. It is an archive of Bournemouth, of nature, of the way I see things. And it gets sharper every time I pick up the camera.
