The Brief
This one never started with a formal brief at all, which I think says something about how it grew into what it became. I already knew her, and the work came up naturally rather than through a pitch or a proposal. She needed proper photography for her handmade resin pieces, and she needed a visual identity that actually looked like her business rather than like a placeholder. I offered to help, and it went from there.
The Process
Every product got shot on a turntable, across different materials and finishes, because no two handmade resin pieces catch the light quite the same way. Some finishes are glassy and reflective, others are matte and soften the light instead of throwing it back at you, and you can't shoot them the same way and expect either to look right. So the actual process was slower and more repetitive than people probably assume, set the piece down, turn it, check the light, turn it again, over and over, until I had enough angles that nothing about the final image felt like it was hiding a flaw or flattering something that wasn't really there.
After the shoot, I'd edit everything properly and deliver the final images through a shared drive so she always had what she needed, ready to use, without having to chase me for it. Alongside the photography, I helped build her logo, business cards, and merch, pulling together a visual identity she genuinely didn't have before any of this started. And it didn't stop once the initial work was done. I still support her in the background now, on an ongoing basis, jumping in to help with TikToks and Reels whenever she needs it, and I'll build her a full website too, whenever she's ready to take that step.
The Outcome
Since starting, she's seen stronger engagement and a much clearer, more consistent sense of what her brand actually looks like across everywhere she shows up online. But I think the real outcome is less about a single result and more about the fact that this is still going. It was never meant to be one finished project with a neat ending. It's an ongoing relationship, built the same quiet, unhurried way it started, and that feels like exactly the right shape for it.
