The Brief
My final graduation project, and the biggest single piece of work I've built: a full mental health and wellbeing campaign for a target audience of 16 to 24 year olds, built entirely from scratch, brand, video advert, ten pieces of social content, and a genuine multi-platform launch across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
The Process
I built this the way I'd build a real campaign, not a college exercise. The brand itself, Bee Happy, came out of research into names and colour theory, yellow for happiness, bees for hard work, communication, and the idea that things worth having take a bit of effort. The logo went through multiple survey-tested rounds before landing on a hand cupping hearts with a bee trail behind it, chosen because it tested well specifically with my actual target demographic, not just people I knew.
The video advert covers ten wellbeing themes, exercise, diet, friends, sleep, relaxation, personal interests, pets, baking, music, getting outdoors, each filmed with real actors (my family, friends, and my own cat and a friend's dog) and cut together with a custom-built animated countdown clock and hand-drawn graphic transitions between sections. I researched advert techniques properly before filming a frame, pulling pacing and shot ideas from Apple ads, mental health campaigns, and even a Coca-Cola spot, then adapted what actually fit rather than copying wholesale. When I couldn't get proper studio lighting for shots filmed off-site, I worked out a diffused-light setup using my own blinds as a softbox, tested it, and used the footage anyway because it held up.
Alongside the film, I designed ten separate graphic posts in Adobe Illustrator, one per theme, each with its own researched colour palette (blue for calm, green for growth, red for energy, and so on) and its own reasoning behind every shape and detail, right down to why a cat's collar was purple. None of this was guesswork. I ran surveys at every major stage, logo choice, typography, colour, first-cut feedback, and used the real responses to revise the work, not just to tick a box. By the final draft survey, the majority of my actual target age range were describing the output as friendly, helpful, and happy, the exact three words I'd set out to earn.
The Outcome
A complete, launched campaign, not just a finished video, but a real brand with a name, a tested logo, ten pieces of researched social content, and an advert built on genuine audience feedback at every stage. It's the project that pulled together everything I'd learned up to that point, filming, motion graphics, illustration, branding, and audience research, into one properly finished, properly tested piece of work.
